In recognition of American Airlines’ 30th anniversary Citi has a pretty great credit card bonus running right now. You can earn up to 60,000 American Airlines Advantage miles when you apply for one of the Citibank AAdvantage cards. There have not been many great AAdvantage promotions lately, this is by far the best.
Citi will give you 30,000 bonus miles when you spend $1,000 in purchases on your new card within the first four months. You will also earn an additional 30,000 AAdvantage miles after you spend 10,000 in purchases within the first year of card membership. Thank that’s a lot? Check out our article on buying coins at face value from the U.S Mint or using Amazon payments to rack up those points to meet the spending requirements.
You can apply for the Citi Visa Signature card, Citi American Express card, or the Citi Business card to receive the bonus miles. The Visa Signature card and American Express cards have NO ANNUAL FEE for the first year and $85 a year thereafter. The Citi Business card has NO ANNUAL FEE for the first year and $75 thereafter.
A few more benefits of the Citi AAdvantage cards:
- Earn 1 American Airlines mile for every $1 spent on purchases.
- No blackout dates on award travel.
- Redeem miles on American Airlines as well as many other airlines.
- Reduced Mileage Award programs allows you to spend less miles for award trips just for having the AAdvantage credit card.
American Airlines AAdvantage miles will post as a bonus in your AAdvantage® account 8–10 weeks after you have met the purchase requirements. Citi usually posts the miles on the following statement (after you have met the spending requirements).
