Fedex planned to give away 30,000 $25 American Express gift cards as a way to say “thank you” to small businesses but It looks like that offer was a huge bust for Fedex. The promotion seemed to be plagued by bad execution on their part due to the overwhelming response. Servers crashed before the offer even went live at 1 pm CST today. Fedex posted several times on their Facebook page that they were experiencing technical difficulties and would get the link up “shortly” but that time never came for most users.
Internet marketing has been used by many companies the last few months to “give away” free items but the majority of the promotions all ended like this one. Too many users and not enough server bandwidth. Sorry guys
