The 0% balance transfer with no fee is back! Yesterday Chase started offering their Slate credit card with a zero percent annual percentage rate on purchases and balance transfers with no transfer fees for 12 months! The Chase Slate credit card comes with no annual fee so it is a “win win” deal. If you have higher rate balances on other cards that you need to pay off,or just need some extra spending cash for the Holidays this is the best offer for both.

We have not seen a no fee transfer offer from one of the big three banks since the financial crisis a few years ago. Most promos floating around right now have a 3% transfer fee which can be pretty substantial if you need to transfer a large amount of money. This promotion will not last long given the fact that banks have been very stingy giving credit “for free” the last few years. Apply today before they pull this offer, or change it back to the original 3% transfer fee.

If you have other credit cards with Chase you can try to move some of your available credit from those other cards to your new Slate card. Chase recently started allowing credit card re-allocations within the last 6 months and not all phone agents are aware of the new changes. You will need to call customer service and ask for the “lending department”. They will review your credit and your other lines with the bank and possibly move the excess to your new card allowing you to get the most free money from this incentive.

Additional terms:

Your offer is based on your credit worthiness. If you have good/excellent credit you will be approved for the “elite” or “premium” card. Either give you 12 months 0%. If you do not have sufficient credit you may qualify for the “standard” pricing. This card still gives you the 0% but only for 6 months.

Balance transfers must be completed within the first 30 days of the account opening to receive them fee free. After 30 days, the fee will increase to 3%.

If you pay late, you may lose your promotional APR. Make sure you set up auto payment to avoid a very expensive accident.

Additional card benefits:

The Slate credit card account gives you “Blueprint” which gives you more choices on how you want to pay for your purchases and other balances. You can choose if you want to pay in full or partially pay.

Zero percent liability on unauthorized purchases.
